Aurora Door Hood Installation Instructions

Important: Read ALL instructions before starting installation.
You MUST install the supplied trusses
as directed for the
Door Hood to withstand snow loads and wind uplift!

Measure 6’-6” up from stoop, add the drop of the door hood (usually from 16-1/2” to 22-3/4”), and mark this location above the door. Next, check the “Mounting Space Required Above Door” chart and mark that measurement above the door.

Mount the hanging channel with long screws at whichever mark is higher and caulk across top of channel.

Install top (biggest ) truss brackets 1/2” below hanging channel. Brackets should be fastened to studs between end of hanging channel and door frame.

Attaching Sides

If door hood was shipped to you via common carrier, the sides will need to be attached to the roof. If you picked it up at our office or we delivered the door hood, the sides are already installed, and you may skip this section and proceed to “Truss Installation”.

Unsnap the valance section of both end upper roof panels. Unsnap and remove the shortest panel on each of the side sections. Place the roof section upside down on a soft, padded surface. Place the crimped taps of the exposed end (where you removed the shortest panel) into the front ends of the roof section. Line up the end and roof sections and place a bolt thru the hole. Swing side inward 90° and engage crimped ends of side panels into the roof panel. Replace the shortest end panel previously removed. Repeat for opposite end.

Tension Units

Place a tension unit on underside of Door Hood between the side panel and the first Lower roof panel as shown in diagram.

Install Door Hood Into Hanging Channel

Pick up completed Door Hood and tilt at an angle so the front is higher than the rear and set the rear into the hanging channel. Fasten Door Hood to the hanging channel with the large-headed metal screws. Fasten sides of Door Hood to house with long screws.

Truss Installation

You MUST install the supplied trusses as directed for the Door Hood to withstand snow loads and wind uplift!

Put truss temporarily into Top Truss Bracket and mark bottom of truss (point “C” on diagram.) Remove truss and fasten lower (smaller) truss bracket to building where marked.

Place truss into upper and lower brackets, and fasten trusses to door hood (at points A & B on underside) by carefully drilling hole thru truss into panel stringer, and to top bracket with small metal screws. Level door hood and fasten trusses to lower brackets (point “C”) by drilling holes into truss and fastening to bracket with screws.
